a couple of inspiring friends, rachelle and caley, and i have combined forces resulting in : handstands, hamsas and BLISS!

our intention is to inspire personal strength through practice, to emphasize the importance of finding bliss in all things, and to give you the tools to learn how to spread your message and the message of others who are making this world a healthier, brighter, more soulful place. we will be doing this thru challenges (like instagram below!), workshops, outreach, etc.

so we are excited to announce our first instagram challenge…
#dailysoul

we want to know what inspires you, and lights you up from the inside out. here’s your challenge: post a pic everyday of something that feeds your soul. anything from handstands, hiking, family, friends, food, pets, to green grass, blue sky, stretchy pants, a good beer, etc.

be creative, be honest, and connect with others. tag @caleyalyssa @marybethlarue @the_neshma_project with your #dailysoul hashtag, every day for the month of june.

let’s inspire each other through our images to remember to feed our souls as well as our bodies and minds! ready, set…GO! well, in a couple days anyway. ;)

MEET RACHELLE.
yogini. activist. founder of the neshama project. mama to bailey. soul sister. radiating beauty.

what’s the best part of your day?
morning cuddles and bailey licks.

what inspires you?
people who are living their truth, and making a difference in the world. people who do not succumb to societal norms and are willing to live outside the box, regardless of how it may be perceived. people who do something with their time, success, finances, and give back to the world. smiles, children playing, humility, patience, traveling and adventuring to some unknown place, people in love, individuals with depth and soul, artists and dancers. love inspires me. nature. the ocean. the wind blowing. birds chirping. a starry night. all the beautiful souls behind innovation africa, one of the organizations that the the neshama project supports. people who have overcome obstacles and choose to stay resilient, and grow, even in the face of pain and tragedy. my brother and sister. mary beth. all my soul sisters from around the world who bless my life and make me feel rich with love and support. zeno mountain farm, a camp for adults with special needs that i regularly volunteer at.  oh man, i can keep going and going! and you know what, i’m gonna say something that i normally wouldn’t, but what the hell, i inspire me!! and thank god for that!

your favorite trip.
traveling with meaning and purpose to some unchartered territory. learning about different cultures, communities, and ways of living. talking to locals, eating new foods, experiencing life though their world, no plan, no map, all trust and magical unfoldments. and since i call myself a hippie in heels my ideal trip would be a good mix of camping in nature-no makeup, minimal showering (dont judge me! you know you want to do it too!!) then followed by massages and champagne at a swanky hotel (lots of showers and hot tub action). not too much to ask for, right?  forever a hippie in heels!

what’s your ideal sunday?
no plan. bike ride adventure. champagne brunch with the ladies followed by a ping pong game (i just recently bought a ping pong table that currently resides in my backyard. i am hard core about my pong! and yes, after i win, i have a “ping pong champion” dance! ) running into friends. hike/yoga. allowing the magic of the day to unfold. sunshine kisses and belly laughter. time spent with my pup, bailey, and the people that i love most in my life.

your favorite words of wisdom.
“everything happens for a reason.” my aunt likes to share this story:  when i was nine years old, after my mom passed away, she was tucking me into bed one night and consoling me, and i apparently looked up at her with my big blue eyes and a smile, and said in hebrew “gam zu latova,” meaning “everything happens for a reason.” and i still believe this today with all my heart. you never know why someone has entered your path, or why this challenge or triumph is showing up. i take comfort in knowing that everything happens for a reason; it all adds to the tapestry that highlights the bigger picture of why we are all here.

when do you feel most “you?”
on my yoga mat. being with my friends who just “get me.” and dancing wildly with my eyes closed, not caring at all what i look like.

what fulfills you?
the neshama project. teaching and practicing yoga. having meaningful conversations and interactions with people. listening to others, complimenting random strangers, and making people smile.

your favorite outfit.
a long flowy dress, some bangles on my wrist, and my hamsas close to my heart.

what’s on your ipod?
flight facilities, blackmill, owlle (a song called “ticky ticky” just does it for me every time), death cab for cutie, rhye, pink floyd, ellie goulding, poolside, anthony valadez, bon iver, radiohead and little dragon!

five things you love
1. my outlook on life, my heart, my past, my bright future, and deep connection to something Greater.
2. my family, soul sisters, friends, and ever growing community around the world.
3. the neshama project. for all the lessons i am learning in what it means to start a business from my heart, and how it continues to connect me with people from all walks of life around the world.
4. yoga. it is my lifestyle and permeates throughout everything that i do in the world. i have been enjoying teaching more than ever before. i think it is due to being more comfortable in my own skin.
5. my soulmate who happens to be in the form of a fluff ball goldendoodle puppy, bailey.  we just get each other. she makes me smile none-stop and reminds me to pause and play, and what unconditional love feels like.

it’s a good sign when i keep wanting to continue writing more and more things that i love… i am a lucky lady!

how you feel in one word today.
grateful. very grateful. (i know that was three, but i felt the need to emphasize the gratefulness!)

bliss list: what i’m loving.

this week i’m dedicating my whole bliss list to a super inspiring girlfriend who founded the neshama project. i got my first necklace from her over a year and a half ago when she came home from israel, and she has since spread her message all over the world.

rachelle came into my life about a year after moving to venice. i’d seen her at the front desk of a local yoga studio, and her light radiated very, very brightly. rachelle is a free bird in every sense of the word – traveling, going on adventures, dancing to her heart’s content (often in the middle of your yoga class.) you see her, and you can’t help but smile and feel some of her joy. thank you for sharing your light.

what’s the best part of your day?
moving by body in a way that feels good.

what inspires you?
people who live their truth and follow their dreams regardless of what society says. people who live their art, and their lives in a way that is sustainable conscious and kind….love. laughter. nature…  people who perform random acts of kindness without the need for recognition. people who have overcome hardships and painful obstacles in their lives and are doing great things to give back to the world….creativity. intelligence. humility…. my brother who ten years ago got into an accident that left him paralyzed from the legs down. today he is a life changing special ed teacher in the bronx, a triathlete, and an incredible human being who lights up the world with one smile….the innocence and purity of children. the loyalty and love of my dog, bailey. and all the beautiful, creative, and strong souls that support and light up my life.

your favorite trip.
traveling all around israel with purpose and love.

what’s your ideal sunday?
friends. laughter. playing with bailey. yummy healthy food. sunshine. cuddles. something active like a bike ride/ yoga practice/hike/ tennis game. community. an adventure. trying something new. dancing. creating art. reading. napping in a hammock…..all of this in one day would be ideal :)

your favorite words of wisdom.
jump, god will catch you.

when do you feel most “you?”
dancing, eyes closed, to music that moves my body and soul.

what fulfills you?
i am still figuring that out every day, and plan to be for the rest of my life. as i continue to grow and evolve so do the things that fullfill me in life.  and it is my commitment and passion to live a life of fulfillment and purpose, no matter what. so today, i am fulfilled by being of service, doing good work in the world, making people smile, listening, surrounding myself with positive and inspiring people. and what deeply fulfills me is my comittment to follow my heart, intuition and wild adventurous spirit, no matter what, wherever it leads me!

your favorite outfit.
a flowy summer dress, barefoot. braid in hair, fun earrings, bangle bracelets, and of course my hamsa necklace!
what’s on your ipod?
music from mb.

five things you love.
1) my golden doodle pups bailey, a constant energetic reminder of love and joy.
2) israel+ hummus+yoga
3) doing good inspiring work in the world and being apart of various communities. zeno mountain farm, a non-profit camp for adults with and without special needs being one of them.
4) amir, and the beautiful, creative, supportive and loving friends and community in my life.
5) developing the neshama project, and using a special blue hamsa as a tool and vehicle to create art for a greater vision. then seeing it on other people’s necks and close to their hearts.
6) god, and the constant reminders and signs of something bigger. and the magical ways these signs are revealed everyday through people, nature, and and the indescribable moments that take my breath away and make it all worth while.

how you feel in one word today.
grateful.

bliss list: what i’m loving.

my neshama project necklace. it stands for joy, peace, and luck. i wear it every single day.

homemade chai tea – almond or coconut milk (i prefer the latter), local honey, two tazo chai tea bags, cinnamon, and cardamon. seriously heavenly.

great blog post on leaving yourself space to breathe even when you are busy doing your life’s “work.”

madly in love with these free people smocked crop tops and flowy pants. oh, and the kitchen is pretty rad.

being completely gluten-free, and almost dairy and sugar-free too. (this is because my body is very sensitive to all these things, but i am big ol’ believer in the “middle way” enjoying both life and food.)

matt picked me up this acai serum for kiehl’s and it’s changing my skin. (thank god.)

being barefoot with bright red toenails.
