about

why blissed?

ananda, a sanskrit word meaning “bliss” has inspired me since i first began studying yoga philosophy. the word refers not to a fleeting happiness but an unconditional joy that we all possess, like a baby.

as i began to form my style i kept coming back to the idea of living in a “blissed” state, and loved how similar the word was to “blessed.”

and so the “blissed” philosophy was born.

hi, i’m mary beth. welcome to my little home on the web.

i’m a yoga teacher, writer, and lover of avocados, homemade chai tea, and hip hop. i am an iowa girl living blissfully in venice beach with my husband and our lovable english bulldog, rosy. you’ll find me riding my bike, going to the farmers’ market, and taking roadtrips with my fam.

whether it’s through a sweaty yoga practice, a gratitude meditation, or a conversation over coffee about life goals, my mission is to lead people toward their bliss. sustainable, fulfilling, ohmygodilovemylife bliss.

i teach group classes at two local studios i absolutely adore, yogis anonymous and studio surya yoga. i’ve traveled the world working with professional athletes and creating sustainable, rehabilitative yoga programs. i have also developed classes held at the down syndrome association of los angeles for teenagers, newborns, and their family members. in 2013 i was named one of the top yoga instructors in los angeles by rate your burn. my classes and retreats have been featured in the huffington post, national geographic traveler and la yoga. in recognition of my work, i’ve been named an ambassador of lululemon athletica, stronger faster healthiermanduka, and yogaearth. i write almost daily on my blog, ananda, and also write for other major media outlets.

hope to see you on the mat, in my community online, or connect over email to plan your one-on-one blissed living sessions. and, please, practice joy. every single day.
