what’s the best part of your day?
laying next to my 2 year old just before bedtime, snuggled next to him in his tiny bed reading a story, talking about the day or singing a song. he’s so sweet and vulnerable at that time. completely open and full of love. he says some incredible things at those moments and usually i leave with my cheeks soaked with tears and my heart full.
what inspires you?
the farmers market- gives me ideas for cooking/uncooking in the kitchen. my babies – to keep being the best person/mother/friend/daughter/wife i can be. my husband – his story of how he ended up where he is now keeps me reaching higher and higher. my parents – my dad has traveled all over the world as a documentary cinematographer and has a beautiful political and worldly perspective.
your favorite trip.
volunteering in a school in xela, guatemala. riding my bike to the school each day to see their shiny, sweet faces. riding on the “chicken bus” into town. teaching the kids and teachers yoga on the rooftop of the school. learning spanish with my private tutor who i’m still connected to. taking yoga classes completely in spanish. living with the most amazing family while there. giving. loving. growing.
what’s your ideal sunday?
waking up after 8am (we have two babies who wake at 6:30a), walking to get a cappuccino at a small israeli bakery close-by, then walking around with my husband and babes enjoying the crisp morning LA air. gallivanting through the farmers market – getting fun new produce to use that evening in dinner or throw into a smoothie. later on, sneaking out to a yoga class (my “church”) while my hubby watches the kids. spend the rest of the afternoon playing with the babes while snacking on healthy, beautiful food. have a big family meal that evening with my parents, sister, hubs and kids: full of wine, organic farmers market food and lots of laughter.
your favorite words of wisdom.
everything in moderation; even moderation.
“every thought you produce, anything you say, any action you do, it bears your signature.”- thich nhat hanh
when do you feel most “you?”
when i’m spending time with my family–they bring out the best in me. Also, on my yoga mat. I feel I am at my true north, best self when I’m practicing. Even sitting on my yoga mat I feel I can connect to my best self.
what fulfills you?
my 2 year old, kai, laughing uncontrollably; a great, passionate discussion with a friend/loved one/stranger; spending wonderful time with my family & friends; a green veggie juice; journaling; giving back by donating my energy to those less fortunate; being in nature; almost anything spiritual.
