when magic happens.
last night was one of those nights.
these women here are made of magic. many of them work two jobs, and after taking care of their children, drive across town for a support group at the salvation army for one of their children who has down syndrome. the whole family comes. and even though many have never done yoga, they sit in a circle with their children (some too young to even stand on their own) and some blonde yoga teacher from venice, and they trust.
the rest of the family sits and watches. the kids play but are respectful. as the mamas move into poses, they first help their children, and then try themselves, and laugh really hard and smile a lot.
and the kids. i don’t even know where to start with them. they are the most joy-filled, in-the-moment, magical people i have ever met. true yogis. there is really nothing i can teach them. when they want to laugh, they laugh. when they are eating a cookie, do not, under any circumstances, try to get them to do yoga. they unconditionally cherish their friends, their family, their dog, their teachers, without ever knowing that some people actually have to put effort into doing that.
i am really lucky to get to be a part of this community. i am really lucky they let me in.
